A Role for Everyone! There are countless volunteer opportunities in our organization. Whether you enjoy working with people, fundraising, public speaking, writing, offering administrative support, or helping to coordinate special events, we will help you to find a role that matches your interests and skills. And don't let lack of experience deter you-experienced volunteers and staff members provide training and support for newcomers.
Whatever role you choose as a Make-A-Wish Foundation® of New Hampshire volunteer, the rewards are immeasurable. To touch the life of a special child, to see the wonder in his eyes, or to hear her laughter is truly a special gift. To know that a child's family has shared a special, unforgettable moment, and to know that you helped create the memory of a lifetime-these are the rewards. Whether you choose to work directly with our children or families, or you prefer to work behind the scenes making the magic possible, you will know you have been at the center of making a dream come true.
Special Events The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of New Hampshire relies primarily on special events to provide the funds necessary to fulfill the wishes of the children in our area. Many events and fundraisers occur throughout the year, most in the evening and on weekends.
Special event ambassadors play a key role in the community by representing us at events that are hosted by community members, businesses, clubs and organizations. We typically ask our volunteers to work two or three hour shifts, but the opportunities for special event ambassadors are as varied as the events themselves! Volunteers are always in demand!
Wish Granters Wish Granters are trained individuals who meet face-to-face with our children to determine their wishes. These volunteers work closely with the Make-A-Wish Foundation® staff to make each wish come true. Most wish granters meet with their families in the evening or on weekends. These special volunteers often are fortunate to build special relationships with the children and families we serve. A specialized training program is provided for all our Wish Granters.
Speakers Bureau The Speakers Bureau is an important public relations and fundraising tool used to inform the community about the Make-A-Wish Foundation® and our mission. These volunteers usually speak to community groups throughout the year, mostly in the early morning, during lunchtime meetings, weekends or evening events.
Administrative/Office Assistance Administrative volunteers provide much of the necessary hands-on work needed to coordinate Make-A-Wish Foundation® projects. Duties may include data entry, coordinating office projects, phone calls, making copies and preparing mailings. Without administrative volunteers, it would not be possible for us to accomplish all that we do for the children we serve. Volunteers who would like to help out in the office must be available during our office hours.
Kids For Wish Kids® Sometimes the biggest donor doesn't have to be so big! Our Kids For Wish Kids® program helps children discover the importance of philanthropy and community service at a young age. This program is about kids helping other kids. Volunteers are needed to personally contact teachers and principals in all areas of the State. The students and teachers will organize the fundraisers - but we need volunteers to make the initial contact with the schools. The time commitment will be minimal and the rewards are priceless!
